My second cousin, whom I never knew existed (but considering how large my grandmother's and grnadfather's family are, there's a lot of relatives of mine out there whom I don't know exist) drop by for a CNY visit along with his four kids. So, here comes the poser: what do I call his kids? Nieces and nephews or cousins? Hmmm...brain teaser for the rest of the day or week or month or year or decade...
Then again...who cares? Chances are I'll never see them again anyways ^_^
TTFN.
It's the second day of CNY and frankly, my dear...I'm sick of it already. Eating CNY dinner food, especially if it's from 2 days before (it's true. I'm still eating leftovers from 2 days before. In a hotel, those food would have been turned into pizza and served for high tea or lunch or dinner). The cash flow is slowing down and there's absolutely nothing to do. What now?
Why? Why must CNY be so long? Why?

The biggest irony about the new Chinese Lunar Year is that it's a bad year to be born in the year of the Dog despite it being the Year of the Dog. In fact...as far as I know, it has never been a good Dog year for the Dogs so what's the point of having a Dog year if all the Dogs can't have a good year on their year?
But you know what's the worst thing about this new lunar year is? I'm about to begin on my third cycle of twelve years! Crap...that can really make a person feel old...oh well...at least I know people who are halfway through their third cycle and those who are already in their fouth cycle ^_^ Hehehe...must remember to think positive...
TTFN and have a happy CNY.

Heh...managed to get away with wearing black on New Year's Eve! Hell...I was even asked to wear the same shirt again for New Year's day itself ^_^ Ain't that cool or what? After all, that's what you get for putting on a traditional Chinese shirt for the family dinner ^_^
Anyways...the day was spent cleaning up the house and the animals and now after dinner is over (relatives left remarkably earlier, citing the whole 'Let's leave at nine because it's the Year of the Dog'. Y'know...dog in whichever Chinese dialect is also the word for nine, so you'll start seeing all the 9 numbers being bought this year like nobody's business) and now we're all sitting down watching Kung Fu Hustle again. *sigh*
Of course, can't wait to count ang pows either ^_^ That's the whole point of CNY, isn't it? ^_^

Couple of days left until CNY. Yay...I think...right now I'm watching a rerun of American Idol because there's nothing else to do and I'm waiting for that Harold and Kumar show. Ugh...that's what happens when there's too many holidays in a row...

Me being me, I spent the whole of today sitting in front of the bloody TV, watching wrestling and American Idol 5 the whole day and I forgot to touch my dissertation. *sigh* When am I going to learn? Probably never but I should step up and kick myself in the butt twenty times before something bad happens.
As to why I'm watching American Idol...there's nothing else on TV at this time. If there was, I would not have to listen to the most appalling singing voices that the world had to offer. Having a terrible singing voice myself, I should know ^_^

Hmmph...it's the start of another break again since Puteri doesn't have a class with us tomorrow and there'll be the CNY break next week so that's about...oh say...12 days of break again...nearly an entire fortnight off. Yeesh...everytime the mood to get back to studying starts to creep in, there's a holiday that begins in order to kill off that mood. Oh well...I suppose I could take this time in order to sit down and really do my dissertation...it's not like it could really kill me or anything...right? ^_^

I think most of you guys would have read or at least heard of that particular tabloid. The one that's about sports and lifestyle and with the photo of a bunch of college kids in one page, posing and saying stupid things about any particular sports topic right? Hehe...got my pic on that college page, along with Gary, Reza, Mei and Merinda. That particular issue came out last Friday but we only knew that it was out today so hence nothing about it on Friday and the big rush for a copy of that Malaysian Today issue.
Of course, let me be the first to say that whatever that was written on that caption was not exactly my words, although in essence it was what I said, only with the typical journalistic added touch to make it look prettier. I never said that it was unusual to support Wolverhampton (although I'm pretty sure that the journalist thought so, judging from the way his eyeballs popped out of his sockets) and when I get my hands on him...
No wonder he used a protected line. That way I can't call him to harass him about what the hell was he writing about...sneaky bastard...

Chinese New Year is around the corner so the whole hustle and bustle of house cleaning starts again. It made me skipped one gaming session and now the house looked exactly like it did yesterday...in a mess, only less of a mess because we cleaned it up but it's still a mess so...does that count as good or does that count as no good? Hmmm...
Anyways...to the Chinese who are not celebrating CNY this year (due to being overseas or whatever), hehehe...don't worry 'cause I'll be sure to get your share of your ang pows. For the rest of you guys, enjoy and no jokes about it being a Dog year 'cause I hate that pun =P

Today can go down as a downright unpleasant day to be in the house since I have to listen to my sister fight with her boyfriend over the phone. Even now when I'm typing this, she's right behind me with him on the phone duking it out. Ho hum...it's getting to the point of extremely annoying I guess...but maybe if the fight goes on longer, I don't have to bother picking up his calls anymore be it on the house phone or on my handphone.
There's a few choice words going behind me again and I shall sign off now. TTFN.

The Australian tour was a joy to watch. Why? Okay...the pyjamas were a little too much although they did leave a lot to wonder about but I was actually refering to the return of Martina Hingis, who was one of the best players in the world, up until the time when the Williams came in with their power shots and annoyingly piercing screams and injuries took their toll on her. It's nice to see the Swiss Miss back in the tour after a while and she's playing in everything so that's more chance to see her in action too.
Of course...on the subject of ladies in the WTA, well...on the one hand it's nice to see a lot of pretty ladies in the tour. On the other hand, it is becoming pretty much a side show where women just go out and flaunt their fashion and looks besides their tennis skills. I'm at a lost here about that so I just say...let's see more of Martina Hingis! Hehehe...

Nothing much happened today beyond the usual cycle of eat, sleep and more eating...Guess that's what happens when you've got a four-day weekend. Although I wished that it was Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday though since it allows me to just go back home on Sunday from gaming times and I get to watch football...*sigh*
Now it's just me and the TV with the PS2 as a side companion...hooray...let's sit down in front of the tv and pretend that my life is actually worth something to somebody...

That's one reason why I would never leave Malaysia and stay in some foreign country for a long time (foreign in this case meaning any place in Europe or North America or Africa or even Australia). After all, which nutcase doesn't like to eat durian? Note to self: there are nutcases out there who doesn't like to eat durian.
Anyways...after a terrible day (looking for the 8th level of the HSBC building seems to be a lot harder than it looks since everyone there seems pretty determined to send me all over the place), there was durian for dinner and all is forgotten for that short time. Ah......need to wipe that drool from the side of my lips...
Hehehe...that was nice...now all I need to do is wait for more durian to come home to me ^_^

My head is currently performing a loop-de-loop as I'm trying to figure out how do I push my head into overdrive for this stupid HSBC competition. Miracles have been known to happen but I don't know whether or not it'll apply in this case.
Must...concentrate...harder...make ...miracle...happen...Yeah...right...

Found where the phoneline in my aunt's place was (apparently my cousin was hoggin it, so I couldn't find it) and now I'm back online ^_^
Anyways...watched
Supersize Me during International Marketing today and boy...that documentary was a riot. There is nothing more intriguing to watch than seeing the fattest people in the world waddle around and the stupidest people in the world trying to figure out who that person is ('George W. Bush' says one kid. 'Never mind...that's a good try...' says the host and turns the card around to show a picture of Jesus).
Hehehe...my aunt will defininitely start gloating the minute she watches this documentary but I'll just shrug my shoulders and continue stuffing that two month old fries into my mouth...although I've reaffirmed my semi-resolution on not to become like Reza after watching that documentary though...ugh...

My brother gave me reason to laugh today, which ought to be celebrated here in this blog since this rarely happens. Why? He called the host for that Discovery Channel documentary True Horror 'John Lithgow'. Hehehe...I wonder why in the world would any director of a documentary wants an actor who is famous for playing a wacked-up alien to become the host of a documentary that talks about supernatural creatures (read: vampire) and what brought about the belief of such things in this world. I mean...shouldn't they be calling in a Watcher to do the job (big hint over here ^_^ although I highly doubt that most people who read this blog would know which actor I'm talking about. Reminds me of that German question I did two years back about Michelle Trachtenburg. The only one who knew the answer was me...)

I don't believe in pre-destination. There...I said it. It was always one of those things that cheesed me off during Bible studies when people were discussing the all famous 'Everyone is called but few are chosen' text which created quite a rift nowadays. Especially since no matter which way I go, most people says that it points towards the fact that everything is pre-destined, including salvation, yada yada yada. But I'm not here to argue about theology (even though I would love to do that but I'm not in the mood for being branded a heretic right now); I'm talking about dissertation.
What does dissertation have to do with choice anyways? A fair bit, considering the fact that last September, everyone in the class (18 students in it) chose to do it and right now we're down to about one third of that number (5 or 6 or at most 7). What's with the declining numbers?
I think everyone got frightened at the sheer difficulty of it. High expectations from Papa Rod, the plagiarism check software, some had trouble talking to their supervisors. So in the end...they just gave up. Nope...I don't look down on them for that...I'm an expert at running away myself and I've been known to run away from other, more important decisions myself.
Then there are those who chose to do dissertation simply because it saves money. Yup, it does...at least for our semester since we don't have to pay for affliation fees (or whatever it was) and in order to replace dissertation so that the degree could meet with Malaysian standards, we have to take two other subjects with the same credit weight as dissertation. So, for them, the choice was a more economic one.
As for me...well...I know that I'll be pushing this dissertation up to the very end. Not because I want to get the honours (it's nice and all but personally for me, not that important) but because...you know what...I really don't know. There's a lot of reasons floating in my head right now, ranging from being the first in my house to get an honours degree, to just doing the dissertation for the sake of seeing whether I can write one to even just doing it for the fun of it.
Who knows why I did it in the first place? Then again...who cares? I know that in the end, it doesn't matter why I did it, just as long as I did it. So...I choose to do it. And that's my bottomline.

Good...the schedule has been shortened to three days. Pity that it's Monday to Wednesday instead of Tuesday to Thursday. Granted there would have to be some major rearrangements in order to pull that off but I'd much prefer to avoid the Monday blues. Oh well...better than nothing I guess...
I settled that (belated) dateline for that Chapter 2 of my dissertation so there's no worries about that for now. Of course now there's that software to worry about *eyeball rolling here and there* and that HSBC competition to think about. Hmmmm...trips to USA and Hong Kong...now that's something nice to work for. Sunny California (well...that guided tour to Berkeley Uni is in the Governator's territoy, right?) and there's also Hong Kong. The second one not so exciting...but Berkeley U does sound interesting...
Enough drooling for now. Must focus mind in right direction...

Long time since I typed out a post (by my standards at least ^_^), due to the lack of internet connectivity in my aunt's place all of a sudden. *sad* Anyways on to the juicy bits...
Sunday: Had a long game of D&D after a long hiatus. I never realised how much I missed playing that pesky halfling rogue of mine. Pilfered little things, robbed two houses, poked a lot of men in armour, basically annoying every NPC (and PC too, come to think of it). And oh...when everyone forgot about me and went off to do their own business...there were a lot of tingling scalps going on that night (all from having that strange feeling of 'Did I forget to do something?'). ^_^
Monday: Official first day of the new final semester (had quite a few of those already, so excuse me if the phrase 'final semester' don't sound quite as impressive as it's suppose to be). Nothing much to do except to see the lecturer's face and listen to the talk on the subject's syllabus. Ho hum...
Tuesday: Public holiday that day. Yeesh...it's ridiculous actually, having just started the day before and now, there's a public holiday going on. At this rate, that damnable holiday will just keep staying. Also I met Von up for dinner that night up until 11. Nothing special really...just prepping for a session that might be happening later this year...if at all...
Wednesday: Finally...I'm up to today...First class was Puteri's class and the first thing she did was split us up into groups for our big assignment. I got paired up with Stella, whom I know Reza wanted to get again...for viewing pleasure, of course ^_^ Hehehe...not that I will do anything...untoward to her, so she needn't worry...too much ^_^
Hopefully this particular bit of nonsense won't happen again...I'll see what I can do to avoid it in future. Til next time...

I'm sitting down in front of my PC figuring out what to type again on this blog since it's one of those plain vanilla day where nothing interesting happened. Of course some might be wondering why I still write this post, saying that today is boring and there's nothing for me to write about. But then again, I'm writing this blog mainly for myself, as a reminder of what I once was (sort of like a diary, only that some of my dark secrets are available for the public eye to see. I'm not
that dumb as to write down every single one of my secrets now am I? 'sides, who's to say whether what I wrote down on this blog is actually the truth or not)
Rants aside, today is truely one of those plain, vanilla days where absolutely nothing interesting happened. I think God must be less angry if me, since we all know that the worst curse to inflict on anyone is an interesting life (some of you might disagree but for the record, an interesting life is a life that people want to read about or watch on tv. Y'know, life during war, multiple pregnancies, possession by six demons, etc.).
Maybe I should be thankful for that. Who knows? I shall, to borrow Reza's words, ponder about it over a bottle of Scotch (that last bit is mine, not his).

Three more days til the start of the final (hopefully) semester. I said that before in 2004 and it turned out to be wrong since I couldn't control myself and went back to do this stupid degree ^_^ So hopefully, no more studying after this and a proper job-hunt begins after June. I did find a few places with vacancies although unfortunately, I kinda doubt that they'll stay vacant until June. But who says I can't keep my fingers crossed ^_^
Mood is definitely lifting up now that it's nearly a week past the holiday season. Hopefully nothing bad will come and bring my mood back to the bottom of the abyss . Had a good laugh at Minh's misfortune with Reza (see the Cbox for more details ^_^) but then again, I'm not really too bothered by who's going to be teaching or lecturing or whatever. It will be interesting to see what happens in class this coming sem though ^_^
*sigh* Can't seem to stop doing that recently, not with all the DVD's I bought recently and watching them in the middle of the night. Heh...it seems that each time I do that, I just get wistful and...hell...maybe I'm just in love with the idea of being in love. Who knows? The cynical part of me says most definitely and that part of me is usually correct when it comes to this kind of things. Heh...maybe that's just the way the ball bounces I guess.
More things to write later this year. And I'll see how long I can keep my hair this time.
TTFN.
The local horror movie scene has been flooded by too many of these movies as of recently. I blame it on the Ring (Jap version, which was good, not that god-awful American version, whose only good thing was Naomi Watts in a wet shirt) for starting this phenomenom, even though the ring talked about in that movie was more of a cycle and not an actual ring.
So after that we have, oh I don't know...the Grudge, the Eye (the original was excellent but the sequels have the following title above it: cheap scam to rack in the money from unsuspecting suckers), the This, the That and now the Wig. God help me if I can actually figure out what the movie is all without even watching the trailer. Girl dies, possesses a wig, everyone who wears it dies a horrible death. Poof...end of synopsis. Thank God I didn't watch that movie...
I love horror movies...I do. Everyone who's seen my VCDs can definitely testify to that but I think that we're having too much of these dumb Korean/Japanese/Hong Kong movie clones where all the ghosts have a serious melanin deficiency, have long hair that hasn't been washed in a decade and irises that are lacking in colour. Boring...

Today was a so-called orientation day for the degree students and I would say that there are a few things to laugh about during that class.
First off was the introduction of who's going to be our lecturers for our subjects. DJ will be cursing everyone like nobody's business when he finds out who our International Marketing lecturer is since he didn't turn up today: Zamzani ^_^ That guy has been hating Zamzani since day one and voila, his wish has been granted. He now gets to meet Zamzani during our marketing class. I'm sorry. Did I say his wish has been granted? I meant his ultimate nightmare just came true ^_^
Next up is the new format of teaching that will be used for the degree students. Okay...I have been known to be wrong on certain circumstances but since when will a open-format style of teaching work for Malaysian students? Open format as in discussions in class, self-study, etc etc etc. Yeah right that'll work. The only thing that will happen is that the same people in class will be talking and the others will just quietly nod their heads in unison, regardless of whether they agree or understand what has just happened. With no intentions in the slightest bit to be respectful, I think that those fellows in IMI are a bunch of twits who think that their methods will work everywhere and that they have the respect of the entire world. Well...they're quite wrong on that.
'nough said today before I start on a righteous rant on how all living things in this world ought to be purged by means of a rain of holy fire (Flame Strike comes to mind, thank you very much).

No...I'm not referring to the ones who are next in line to take over SMG's or ED's place in the long line of vampire slayers. Reza pointed out a hotel in construction next to 1U which judging from the looks of it might finish construction next year. Hehehe...looks like I can put those apartments to good use after all...besides rotting there and collecting dust...
Potential job...watch out, 'cause here I come...just as soon as I finish graduating of course ^_^

Whoever it was that came up with the phrase 'Happy New Year' obviously has never been satisfied with the previous year. After all, what's so great about the new year other than a change in the date? People say that a new year is when you get to start afresh, when you get to be a better person. Phish posh and bullshit if you ask me, just like that story that says that Catholic High is a good school. There's no such thing as a good school, only what you make out of what you have been given and how you mold it to your advantage. Not there isn't anything good about Catholic High...wait a minute...there is nothing good about Catholic High...what the hell am I saying here?
Anyways...it's now 2006 and I'm going to be 24 this year. What does that make me? Older? Wiser? More experienced? More discerning? Haha. Maybe the first one but the rest? In the pit hole that I call my arse. Happy New Years are for those who have a reason to be glad that it's a new year and I definitely don't have a reason to be glad that it's a new one. After all, I just got used to 2005 and now I have to get used to it being 2006.
Of course, there will be more useless rants like this in the days to come. After all, that was the whole reason why I started writing this blog and I don't see that changing in the days to come, even if the date does change. Yeesh...now I have to get used to writing 2006 instead of 2005 now.
And people wonder why I hate Christmas and New Year so much...
